Romantic Dinner Dates

ON A RESTRICTED DIET!

Going out for dinner on a restricted diet can seem impossible, but below are some ideas for something for a night out with your special someone, as well as a few casual options that can accommodate!

LOCAL FARM TO TABLE

Many “farm to table” restaurants are used to cooking from scratch and are willing to accommodate restricted diets since they can more easily make quick adaptions! Be sure and call ahead to double check!

TIP: when you call any restaurant ahead of time, ask them what type of oil they use, if you are avoiding soybean oil.

SEAFOOD

If you go to a restaurant that serves fresh seafood that is boiled or raw, you can avoid many allergens! Oysters are a romantic dinner date and if you stick to simple oysters with basic toppings, this can be a win! Some seafood restaurants will do boiler pots with steamed shrimp and potatoes (just ask for no butter!).

Tip: Old Bay Seasoning is dairy, soy and wheat free! (always double check)

Fancy Steak Dinner

Steak dinner feels appropriate for a romantic dinner and many restaurants can accommodate a grilled steak (make sure you ask them to clean off the grill first!) and a side of steamed veggies and plain baked potato. Again, call ahead and ask!

TIP: consider bringing your own condiments or dairy free butter if you order a baked potato, side salad, etc.

BBQ Restaurants

Often local BBQ restaurants will slow cook their meats just spices and without allergens. Sides might be a bit more tricky, but usually greens or a side salad will work!

TIP: bring your own BBQ sauce if their sauces contain the allergens you are avoiding.

BONUS: SOME SAFE CHAIN RESTAURANTS

Zoe’s Kitchen

Zoe’s Kitchen isn’t exactly candlelight, but it is a chance to get out alone with your sweetheart and the food is unique! Zoe’s has a great allergy menu if you have one of these restaurants nearby.

Mod Pizza

Again, not fancy, but this place is great with allergies! Their allergen menu lists all of the ingredients as well. You could always grab these pizzas to go, and eat in a more classy location!

Tip: If you don’t have Mod Pizza nearby, check and see if you have Blaze Pizza or Your Pie instead!
