ALLERGY FRIENDLY CHRISTMAS COOKIES!

Do you love making Christmas cookies? You may be feeling like you have less options this year, but I want to let you in on a little secret…I have made several “normal” cookie recipes with a few easy substitutions and they turned out great!

Here are some ways you can substitute in recipes:

For eggs use “aqua faba” or 3 TBSP chick pea juice from the can. I prefer this over a flax egg because there's no taste!

For butter use coconut oil (refined if you don't want the coconut oil taste). You will just need to melt or solidify the coconut oil according to what the recipe requires.

For milk use any dairy free milk of your choice.

For wheat free option: use Bob's 1 to 1 Flour. I have found this to be a really good substitute! (Xanthan Gum is corn derived, but double check).

For chocolate use Enjoy Life Chocolate Chips.

For Nuts use dried cranberries or blueberries (make sure there are no additives).

The recipes below I have made before and are dairy free or I successfully used one or more of the substitutions above. The rest are recipes that I have not tried but have good reviews and many fit a Top 12 elimination, low histamine or low FODMAP diets.

NOTE:  if you need to use more than 2 substitutions in a recipe, you probably are better off just finding another recipe that accommodates your needs, otherwise the recipe may start to get weird.
